Time to Go Back to the Old Job??

Lately I've been having thoughts that maybe making this move to a new job was a big mistake. I thought I was excited. I thought I was doing the right thing. I thought I was bettering myself. How could I not? More control, more money and free lunch. A no brainer right?

Wrong.

I feel lost, misinformed, out of the loop. Why you ask? Because I have fallen so far behind in blogging and reading blogs that it's getting painful. At my prior job, my "Daily Reading" list of people could not get a post out quick enough for me to read them. Now, when I visit their sites, I'm like 4 posts behind! Ridiculous. Not to mention my own lack of new posts. I had no idea work could be such an inconvenience. Maybe I should go back to my prior place of employment? Actually, I'd rather cheer for the Vikings than do that.

Oh, and to my lovely wife who was up sick last night. I hope you feel better today and if you get sick again tonight, please try to keep the noise level to a minimum this time. I'll be trying to sleep.

Work, Wine and the Pack

Well week #1 is over at the new job and all indications are that I made a good choice, and not just because of the free lunch which is an excellent and delicious perk. It appears that my now team members weren't kidding when they said that they didn't have any type of expert in the area of stuff I deal with. There is a lot of questionable things in place right now that we've discussed this week that I need to get structured the right way. So all is good.

Yesterday Kirsten and I went up to Cedarburg for their 33rd annual Wine and Harvest Festival. It was the best of both worlds for us. She was able to look at endless vendors of dried flowers and wooden creations and I was able to sample delicious wine from the local Cedar Creek Winery and drink some Sprecher Oktoberfest beer which is always a Fall favorite for me. I was suprised at how many people were there and how big in general the event was. I think we'll go back next year. For all of you in the area, it's also going on today from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Enjoy!

It's Sunday morning and I'm typing this before getting ready to head up to Green Bay for the Packers/Saints game. I'm pretty nervous considering I was in attendance for last week's game, if you can call it that, and the Pack looked like a high school team. However, this week if all fails on the field, I'm sure we'll still enjoy ourselves by turning to the food and cocktails since I'm lucky enough, especially if it rains, to be up in a skybox today watching the action. Cheer on the Pack!

Happy Monday!

Happy Monday everyone. I had to throw a quick post out there before I start my new job today. I hope y'all had a nice weekend. A group of us went up to Penninsula State Park for the weekend camping. We had a lot of fun, even though Hurricane Friday came through. I have some pictures that I'll post, hopefully tonight.

Yesterday I went to what some people call a football game although it only looked like one team was playing. The Pack got shut out in their home opener 26-0. Pathetic. Good time though. Hard to beat tailgating and watching Bears fans get tossed out of the stadium by police.

And finally, as everyone knows, today is the 5 year anniversary of 9/11. No need to link to any articles on it, because they are on every website you'll look at today. Take a minute, reflect and urge people to start looking forward instead of still trying to point fingers about it. You would think grownups would do that.

Off to work! Wish me luck on my first day and enjoy your Monday's everyone!

Coookowt!

I usually have a cookout every summer at my place...I mean, our place (sorry honey). This summer is going by so darn quick that it almost escaped without joining us in hosting one. But alas we were able to throw one together for yesterday relatively last minute and it was a success!

One minor issue which I take full responsibility for was not starting the grill until an hour or so after people started arriving. I should have started it the minute someone got there to get the thing started. I use a charcoal grill which at times like this can be a pain but I can't help it, that's just the way I roll.

Thanks to those of you who stopped by, especially Terri and Derrick for bringing their new arrival Dawson for everyone to meet! Kirsten, Olive and I had a great time.

[Have a great and safe holiday weekend]
