place shout: milwaukee

Being a pretty big techno-geek (for now anyway, but that's a whole separate post), I spend a lot of time on the internet researching programming languages and new technologies. Occasionally my research brings me to some cool, new websites. This time I was researching a language called Ruby on Rails and came across a semi-recently released site built on Rails called Placeshout.

In a nutshell,
"Placeshout isn't about volume - it's about trying to express the positives and negatives of a destination in as few of words as possible. If people agree, that "shoutout" moves up...if they don't, the shoutout moves down and begins to disappear."
So I went to check it out to see Rails on display. It's a cool site however Milwaukee was missing (not yet added by someone) from the list of cities so I added it and put in a quick "shout" for The Lodge. It was just the first thing to come to me and I just wanted to get Milwaukee on the map so to speak. So check out Placeshout and add some shouts for Milwaukee to let the rest of the world know what a cool destination this is.

panthers, engagement, turkey, amy

Just got home from another UWM Panther loss. I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's going to be a long season this year. As a season ticket holder, I still to do my part and go to games and cheer as much as my little heart will let me but boy, they sure are frustrating. Up next, the intercity battle with Marquette. It's nice that the two teams are finally playing each other, but unfortunately it's a couple years late for the Panthers as they seem a far cry from their Sweet 16 team a couple years ago.

A big "congratulations" to my little sister Jessica (pictured) who got engaged to her boyfriend Ben this past weekend. Kirsten and I are very happy for you both and are looking forward to the wedding day!

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. As some may know, it is my favorite holiday. I enjoy the overeating tremendously and this year was no different. We packed up the Jeep and headed north to St. Cloud for a nice weekend with the in-laws. The meal didn't disappoint. It had all the characteristics of success: turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing and, of course, gravy. Delicious. I hope you and yours also had a good one. Oh, and the mighty Packers won again setting up the showdown for this Thursday night with Dallas. I'm not feeling too confident. The Pack is a little banged up and are notoriously bad when playing in Dallas. As always, I'll be pacing around my living room watching and yelling. Go Pack!

And speaking of Dallas, a special "hello" to my favorite Dallas resident, Amy! I hope everything is going well. I know this year has been pretty bad as far as communication goes, but I hope to talk to you soon.

the place

The past couple days I was taking some pictures of our place for the insurance company. Yes it takes me two days to complete a task like this not because our place is a mansion, but because I am motivationally challenged. Anyway, I've had some requests to put up some pictures of it so...

Below is the front entry way and two pictures of the kitchen...

... and here are two pictures of the living room including my new TV! High Def is the only way to fly. Third is our second bathroom which my lovely wife just painted because it was a terrible violet/purple/crappy color...

... and finally a picture of our guest bedroom and master bedroom and bath. Our bedroom obviously needs some work and Kirsten has all sorts of, um, wonderful ideas for it. In the reflection in bathroom you can see her favorite thing of all, the big soaking tub.

Hope you enjoyed the show! Have a good weekend.
